A goal-based Google Ads campaign type that runs from one campaign across all Google Ads inventory: Search, YouTube, Display, Discover, Gmail and Maps. You supply assets, a budget and a conversion goal; Google's automation decides where and to whom to show.
Example
Meera gives a Performance Max campaign her product images, short videos, headlines and a ₹20,000 monthly budget with website purchases as the goal. Google then spreads delivery across its channels.
How you'll hear it
“PMax is getting conversions, but we can't see much of where they came from, so let's check it isn't just taking credit for brand searches.”
Don't confuse it with
- Advantage+ (Meta): Meta's automation suite; similar idea on a different platform.
- Smart Bidding: the bidding method PMax uses, not the campaign type.
