Lookalike audience

Also called lookalikes, LAL

Performance marketingTerm

A Meta audience of new people who share characteristics with a source audience you provide, such as your customers or website visitors. You choose how closely they should resemble the source.

Example

Meera uses her 8,000-person email list as a source and creates a 1% lookalike in India. Meta finds people who resemble her buyers but have never heard of the store.

How you'll hear it

“The 1% lookalike of past buyers is the best prospecting audience we have.”

Don't confuse it with

  • Custom audience: people who already know you.
  • Advantage+ audience: Meta finds people with its own automation, with or without a lookalike.
