On Meta, an audience made of people who already know your business, built from sources such as a customer list, website visitors, app users or people who engaged with your content. Google's version for customer lists is called Customer Match.
Example
Meera uploads the emails of the 8,000 people on her email list, who agreed to hear from her. Meta matches them to accounts and she shows those people her new collection.
How you'll hear it
“Make a custom audience of everyone who bought last Diwali and exclude them from the prospecting campaign.”
Don't confuse it with
- Lookalike audience: new people resembling a custom audience.
- Interest targeting: people Meta thinks are interested in a topic, not people who know you.
In India: Uploading customer phone numbers or emails is processing personal data, so in India it falls under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Use only data you have consent to use this way.
