Decoding the Jargon

Repurposing

Also called content repurposing, content recycling

Content creationTerm

Turning one piece of content into several pieces for different channels or formats, for example one video into a Reel, a carousel, a blog post and a WhatsApp message.

Example

Meera records one 20-minute styling session. It becomes four Reels, one YouTube video, a carousel of five looks and a WhatsApp broadcast, all from a single shoot day.

How you'll hear it

“We don't need a new shoot; repurpose last month's session.”

Don't confuse it with

  • Reposting: reposting shares the same piece again; repurposing reshapes it to suit a new format or audience.
