Software that sends messages and runs marketing tasks on its own, based on rules you set once. It decides who gets what, and when, without someone pressing send each time.
Example
Meera sets up her email tool so that anyone who joins her list gets a welcome email the same day and a styling guide three days later. She wrote both emails once; the software sends them to every new subscriber.
How you'll hear it
“Most of our follow-ups are on marketing automation now, so nobody has to remember to send them.”
Don't confuse it with
- Email blast: a one-off send to a whole list, set off by a person, not a rule.
- CRM: the record of customers and deals; automation is what acts on that record.
