The total time viewers spent watching your video, added across all views. YouTube reports it in hours.
Formula
Watch time = views × average view duration
Example
Meera's 60-second styling video got 2,000 views with an average of 18 seconds each. Watch time = 2,000 × 18 = 36,000 seconds, which is 10 hours.
How you'll hear it
“Views went up but watch time didn't, so people are leaving early.”
Don't confuse it with
- Views: counts how many times the video was watched, not for how long.
