Decoding the Jargon

Dynamic content

Also called Smart content, conditional content

AutomationTerm

Parts of an email, page or message that change automatically depending on who is viewing it, based on rules or data, while the rest stays the same.

Example

Meera builds one festive email. The hero image block shows sarees to subscribers tagged 'womenswear' and sherwanis to those tagged 'menswear'; the footer is the same for all.

How you'll hear it

“Use dynamic content for the product block instead of building two separate campaigns.”

Don't confuse it with

  • Personalisation token: inserts one field, like a first name; dynamic content can swap whole sections.
  • Segmentation: sends different campaigns to different groups; dynamic content does it within one campaign.
